Howie Pineapple Print White/Green
We’ve given the archetypal pineapple print a grown-up feel with its simple colour palette. Still, it’s positively cheerful and a real crowd pleaser, one of D&D’s most popular.
The Jaguar Print Cream
Wild abandon and romance – the golden boys and darlings exploring 1950s Monaco certainly knew how to live in the moment. The cream Jaguar print is bold and adventurous, capturing the zeitgeist of the moment.
The Jag Print Navy
Wild abandon and romance – the golden boys and darlings exploring 1950s Monaco certainly knew how to live in the moment. The Jag print in navy is both spirited and elegant, the epitome of cool.
Sansindo Tiger Print Navy/Pink
A late addition to The Originals collection, the Sansindo Tiger was inspired by tales of the East. A bold and powerful step-and-repeat pattern and energetic navy and pink colourway contrasts with finer details: the love heart nose, smooth tail, delicate feet and vogue eyebrows. Together they balance handsomeness and femininity.
Chango Monkey Print Blue/Pink
Our Chango Monkey print has been through a lot. After Alice, our resident artist and perfectionist, lost sleep over him, he ended up hidden away in a folder, only for Molly to find him weeks later and insist he be included in the collection. We’re glad she found him. The graphic print and bold colour remind us of similar joyful designs we spotted in Mexico.
La Loteria Print Cream/Brown
La Loteria is Mexico’s national game. It’s their version of Bingo. Packets of colourfully illustrated cards hang from market stalls across the city. Borrowing some of their characters – El Sol, La Sirena, La Mano – we reinterpreted and redrew them for our print. The white and caramel colourway is delicious to wake up in, especially if you are like me and love waking up in white!
The Milou Print
Café Milou is a café in Mexico City where we met a group of wonderful people who really showed us the city. What started with a coffee turned into a tour of the city, a taco tour, and a fiesta until three in the morning. Painted in water colour, it uses the colours of the city's pink cabs and blue houses.
Bellas Artes Print
The Bellas Artes Print, named after the Palacio de Bellas Artes, is our nod to the Mexican mural. Our first placement print, this two-piece is our hero set for the season. The painterly details of the background turn these pyjamas into a piece of art.
La Sirena Print Red
When you think of Mexican art, Frida Kahlo is usually first to mind. We love her strength, courage and flare but wanted our collection to capture the mood of modern Mexico. When we visited Kahlo's family home, Casa Azul, we spotted a little terracotta statue of La Sirena in the corner. This print is our subtle nod to the woman who had such an impact on putting Mexico’s art on the world map.
Caballo Horse Print Pink/Green
The Caballo print represents both the wild mustangs of northern Mexico for their strength and resilience, and the Escaramuza horses, ridden as part of the only female equestrian event in the country, for their skill and grace.
The Arantza Print
The Arantza print, our floral this season, was inspired by our research on Las Pozas, a surrealist group of structures created by Edward James in the Mexican rainforest. On the dark background, the bright colours pop and the detail of the hand-painted illustrations really stand out.
The Zocalo Print
The Zocalo print is named after the main square of Oaxaca, a city known for its textiles. It was here that we discovered Otomi, a traditional style of Mexican embroidery. Inspired by these designs, Alice, our resident artist, has created our own version!
Deia Print White/Pink
Built into the cliffs overlooking the cove of Cala Deià in Mallorca sits our favourite seafood lunch spot. Only slapped-together timber railings separate you from the stunning Mediterranean. The crowd – barefoot and in bikinis – linger through the afternoon with bottles of local rosé and the daily catch. With a pale palette and unique gentleness to our illustrations, the Deia print is our salute to the mood and ease of this magical spot.
Sansindo Tiger Print White/Green
The illustrated Sansindo Tiger print is one of our eye-catching best sellers, with the white and green version being the ideal accompaniment to summer Sundays. The tiger’s bold expression masks a much softer side with his handsome yet delicate features.
Medina Stripe Print Multi
The Medina Stripe print celebrates the saturated hues that spill the streets and bazaars of Marrakesh. By combining vivid and tonal colours, the simplicity of a solid stripe is elevated to modern heights.
Bocas Print Blue
The seductive Panama region of Bocas del Toro was the spur for our tropical toucan print. The colour palette was chosen to reflect polaroids taken on the island by D&D’s founders, and has us nostalgic for warmer days. Printed on the reverse, the depth of the colourway has a luxurious impact – it’s the ultimate oasis captured.
The Fern Print White/Green
The Wild Ones collection was inspired by the eccentricity of English aristocrats. The Fern is our tribute to old world British explorers and their journals, with a sophisticated floral motif.
Serengeti Safari Print Green
The late Grethe Hutt-Schonken sought to learn about South African art and develop her style of symbolic African landscapes. Our Serengeti Safari print is a playful rendition of her work.
The Expressionist Print Navy
The Expressionist print was created in-house starting with ink on paper using the bird as a symbol of freedom – inspired by Picasso’s dove of peace. You could stare at the tessellated pattern all day: the fluidity of strokes and dark navy hue are mesmerising.
