Introducing Inactivewear
Almost a year ago, we were working on a project that looked at how we as society spend time on the couch. Active-Wear, clothing designed for physical performance was most commonly the dress code of choice for unwinding. Our aim is to untangle Athletics and Leisure in the realms of fashion. Lycra, sports/performance wear, do your thing, run your race, claim your fame, there is a spot for you with the gym shoe but please make space and respect the Leisure.
In launching a more comfortable stretch wear (our in-activewear uses Lyocell Jersey) we hope to make a small contribution to glorifying the pause in life. To not only celebrate rest and recovery but dare to stand up to the enemy that is excessive activity, also known as productivity.
In the UK, stress and burnout cost the government approximately £28 billion a year.
The brief was simple:
Take cues from what people recognise as ‘activewear’, and add a new, gentler, movement to it. Introduce new fabrics that aid sleep and recovery. Create a print that feels like a more elegant unravel: Laced Dreams.
